Stress Eats Us Up

I think a lot of people believe that teenagers don’t have a whole lot of stress on their hands because all they have to do is go to school. Well, they’re WRONG. Teenagers have so much to do and the pressure just adds onto their stress. As a teen, I also undergo quite some stress. Not only do I put pressure on myself to do well in school, but I am also pressured by my parents and those who are around me. I always want good grades, but also want to be actively involved in stuff outside of school.

Parents need to think about how hard a student’s life can be. Not only do we go to school for at least six hours, but we also have to go home and do homework that’s takes up about another at least 4 hours. On top of that, many teens also have sports, clubs, or other extracurricular activities they have to worry about! Pressuring students to get all A’s is probably the worst thing parents can do. Students sometimes even do worse when they’re pressured! It’s best to encourage them, rather than scolding them and forcing them to get straight A’s. Most parents don’t seem to consider that when they see their children’s grades though.

You know what else parents expect from their children? For them to go to a well known university. Parents need to know that you don’t have to go to the best school to be successful! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with cal states and community colleges. They save parents lots of money. There’s no need to stress your children out by pressuring them to get into top schools.

All this stress affects teens in school and their activities. Stress even can make students have metal breakdowns. If you’re a parent, make sure to give your children some space and stop constantly reminding them to do this and that. Keep in mind that grades and test scores do not define a person. They are simply just letters and numbers, so don’t let them cause you so much stress. If you’re trying hard to do well in specific subject and still aren’t doing well, that just means that it’s not your strong point. A bad grade does not mean that you’re not smart and that you’re dumb. With school and everything else in your life, make sure to never let stress overtake your mind and body by giving yourself some time to relax.
